Ololade Kassim’s book, “What Lies Beneath Adorable” was a delight to read. Her joy and gratitude to God for the twin boys that God had blessed her and her husband with, leaps out of the pages of the book and is contagious. Her simple trust in God and in the efficacy of prayer are encouraging. Her style of writing made reading the book easy.
From the moment when she attended an all night prayer meeting at Jesus House London, organised specifically for those who were waiting on God for children, to the beautiful stories she tells about her toddler twins, the message is clear - we serve a loving, kind and merciful God who cares for us, watches over us and is very concerned with the most minute details of our lives.
I would commend the book for a number of reasons ; firstly it is a very spiritual book. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of it, the book has its basis in the spiritual. Many will have testimonies to share as they read the book and open up their lives to receive the blessings God has planned for them. To use Lolade’s word, I encourage the reader to “ connect not just with a book, but with Gods plans and purposes for your life.”
Secondly it is a very practical book. It tells you in very clear practical language, how to raise twins especially in the early years. It is filled with common sense tips and suggestions which any parent of not just twins but any child would do well to adhere to.
Thirdly it is easy reading. It conveys her message in simple everyday language, with delightful stories including quite a few personal ones that will in many instances cause a smile to play on the lips of the reader.
Fourthly, it is a book of testimonies. The book does not just share Lolade’s testimony but the bonus chapter shares the testimonies of other ladies . The message is driven home that our God is a benevolent father.
Fifthly while the focus of the book is her journey to having twins and her experience of raising them, it really speaks in a larger sense to those who are believing God for anything that He has promised. The scripture in Jeremiah 33:3 would readily sum up the entire book “ Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know”.
